A 36 by 48 inch rectangle is a standard lap quilt size as is a 36 by 36 inch square. While sizes may vary most lap quilts measure between 36 inches and 48 inches along each side.

Afghans may be any size. The finished size for most afghan patterns is similar to a throw. This may vary by a couple of inches in either dimension. For a medium lap blanket the final measurements maybe about 30 to 50 inches.

Throws typically have a standard size of 50 inches wide by 60 inches long. At a minimum your throw quilt should be 40 inches wide and at maximum it should be 80 inches long. A 36 by 48 inch rectangle is a standard lap quilt size as is a 36 by 36 inch square. For a large lap blanket the final measurements may be about 50 to 60 inches.

Each time i would have to go searching online for the size that it should be whether a baby blanket throw blanket double bed size etc. Whenever i make a blanket i m always trying to figure how big i want it to be and how much yarn i ll need. Throw quilts are larger than lap quilt patterns. With a rag quilt eve needs to use 1 2 inch seam allowances which would mean that a 5 square would finish at 4 so a 6 squares across would be 24 wide and 8 squares down would be 32 long.
